Breast Lift

Mastopexy in Bellaire & River Oaks, TX

Reshape & Restore Your Contours

Mastopexy (breast lift) is a surgical procedure specifically designed for lifting and reshaping sagging breasts. Aging, pregnancy, weight loss, and gravity can all cause breasts to sag over time.

By expertly trimming excess skin and tightening the supporting tissue, Dr. Ajibade ensures your breasts sit higher on the chest and are firmer to the touch. During the procedure, the nipple and areola can also be repositioned or resized to further enhance the overall breast appearance.

Procedure Note: Because a mastopexy alone does not drastically change breast size, it is often seamlessly combined with breast augmentation (for added volume) or breast reduction.

Are You an Ideal Candidate?

An eligible mastopexy candidate is in good overall health, maintains a stable weight, and has realistic expectations about the beautiful, long-lasting results a lift can provide.

Incision Types & Reshaping

  • Peri-Areolar
    (Two Rings)
Two rings are made, one larger than the other, completely around the areola.
    Best For:
Small breasts with minimal sagging. This technique leaves the least amount of scarring.
  • Lollipop
    (Keyhole Shape)
An incision is made around the areola and extends vertically down to the breast crease, resembling a keyhole.
    Best For:
Moderate sagging. Allows for excellent reshaping with moderate, concealable scarring.
  • Anchor Shape
    (Inverted T)
Begins in the breast crease, extending horizontally, then vertically up to and entirely around the areola.
    Best For:
Breasts with significant sagging and excess skin. Provides the most dramatic lifting results.

Beautiful, Long-Lasting Results

Mastopexy produces immediate aesthetic results. You will instantly notice a higher, more youthful breast profile. As post-operative swelling subsides and scars begin to naturally fade, your breasts will continue to improve in appearance.

Patients who thoroughly discussed their goals with Dr. Ajibade prior to surgery, and maintain realistic expectations, consistently report exceptionally high satisfaction levels.

Although the body is still subject to the natural effects of aging and gravity over time, a mastopexy produces beautiful, long-lasting results that can permanently restore your confidence.

Recovery Timeline: Week-by-Week

  • Initial Healing
Bruising, soreness, and swelling are normal. Breasts are wrapped in an elastic bandage or surgical bra.
  • Transition Phase
Stitches are removed after 1-2 weeks. Most patients return to work. A support bra must be worn continuously.
  • Resuming Activity
After about a month, you can generally resume exercise and strenuous activity as swelling continues to subside.

Tip: If fat is transferred to specific areas like the buttocks or hips, you may need to avoid direct pressure on those areas initially.

Understanding the Risks

In addition to the usual risks associated with surgery and anesthesia, risks specific to mastopexy include the following. Dr. Ajibade prioritizes patient safety and transparency during every consultation.

  • Temporary or permanent change in nipple or breast sensation
  • Irregularities in breast contour or shape
  • Asymmetry between the breasts
  • Partial or total loss of the nipple/areola (rare)

Depending on the incision type used, mastopexy can produce visible scars. Although some incisions (like the peri-areolar) can be beautifully concealed in the natural breast contours, others (like the anchor) cannot be entirely hidden. However, with proper surgical technique and diligent post-operative care, scars fade significantly over time, becoming much less apparent.
